Posted April 8, 201410 yr I searched microsoft support for how to set a connection as metered for my Desktop, there i found and tried these steps- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.) Tap or click Network, and then tap or click Connections. Tap or click the connection you want to change, and then, under Data usage, turn Set as a metered connection on or off. BUT, surprisingly there is no "network" option in my 'pc settings' of my Desktop! i am using an iBall 3G wireless dongle to connect to internet and it connects as a dial up connection, so it is not detected as a mobile broadband. Actually i need to set it as metered because a certain process named "liveomm.exe" uses up huge amount (more than 100 MB per day) of my paid data. i guess the purpose of that process is to sync mails and instant messages, but neither i have mails with large attachments, nor i have sent any large email.
