Hello,

I would like to know if there is a microsoft tool and/or a Microsoft suggested checklist that would help me restore system files and system configuration to the appropriate state. I am not talking about system restore. I am not talking about retoring my computer to an earlier time, neither about restoring computer to the time of purchase.

I believed my computer was compromised somehow and the intruder was accessing my unit through some kind of remote connection.

I have received support from malware software company and I believe my computer is fine now.

And so, the question with which I open this post: I would like to know if there is a Microsoft tool and/or a Microsoft suggested checklist that would help me restore system files and system configuration to the appropriate state. Whenever I begin to notice funny behavior from my computer, I would like to run this program and/or follow this process to reset all important files and settings to an appropriate state. The reason why running malware alone to spot problems, and that if there is inadvertent remote access to my computer, the intruder can make many modification to files that will not be identified by the malware; and I believe if I were able to run a program like this, whatever modifications have taken place, which expose my unit, but meet the systems rules of behavior can be reverted to an appropriate state.

I read an article on how to repair my operating system, but it required me to have a copy of it; however, since the operating system came with preinstalled on this computer, I could not followed the directions. The article I read aimed at having all system files and configuration meet the manufacturer standards, without loosing the currently installed programs and files.

Thank you
