User accounts not showing at start up and windows remembering (wrong) account password

Hi,

Thanks for any help in advance.

TLDR: Windows trying to log into user 1 with old password and not giving me option to log into user 2

I am trying to set up an new account for my house mate to use. This is something I have done loads of times before and never had a problem with.

This time however it is causing me some grief.

First off I created a new user account (user 2) gave it a password and set it to a normal user account (not admin). I also changed the password on my account (user 1) which is an admin account.

Now when I restarted my computer I expected it to go to the log in screen and give me two options (user 1 & user 2) both of which would require a password. I should mention here that before i created user 2 I never saw the log in screen as it booted straight to my desktop.

What is actually happening on boot is that just after windows logo i get the message 'this password is incorrect' (along those lines anyway).

When I confirm this message I'm shown the log in screen but it only shows user 1 and 'other accounts'.

I can enter the new password for user 1 at this stage and log in fine, I can also go the 'other accounts' and enter user 2 credentials and log in fine but on restart I get the incorrect password notice again and user 2 is still not shown on log in screen.

The incorrect password it is talking about is the old password for user 1, but I am not entering it, it is as if windows has remembered the old password and is trying to enter it to log straight into user 1 with it.

I have tried making user 2 admin also but no difference is made.

If anyone has any idea's they would be very much appreciated,

Thank you.
