Hi Team,

New to this form and been away from servers for a bit and recently had to implement a 2008 server in a school. Currently all the users are XP SP3. Here is my issue.

I am trying to map a few drives to users based on their group memberships. so...

for the sake of keeping this short lets talk about just the faculty group.

I created a group called faculty and added all faculty menbers to it.

I created a share on the server \\server\GroupShare\FacultyShare

I gave security rights (full Control) to the faculty group

In GPM I created a policy called faculty and linked it.

I went into the users and preferences and drive mappings and told it to map a drive.

I used s as the drive letter. I told it to "Create" the Mapping. I told it to "Reconnect" and then I went to common tab and selected item level targeting and selected group. I then pointed it to the faculty group and hit accept.

I then did a gpupdate /force

When i log in as a faculty member I do authenticate to the domain and I do get the drive mapping to my home directory as defined on my user account but I do not get any of the drive mappings through GPM..

Am I missing some important step here?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

First of all do the following:

Open GP management and run a RESULTANT GROUP POLICY, specify the policy and a computer. When done, check the results, there's a section called "Applied GP" and "Deny GP", chech if that policy has been applied correctly or not.
