Sennheiser BTD500 USB Bluetooth 3.0 Device not recognised in Windows 8

I tried installing a Sennheiser BTD500 USB Bluetooth 3.0 Adaptor with my new HP Pavilion 17 which did not come with internal Bluetooth.

The USB Stick has built in driver for Apt-x Audio and Bluetooth, but no drivers are downloadable from Sennheiser.

Windows recognizes it as an audio device but not as a Bluetooth device,

Also, I have no Bluetooth option in control panel, no Bluetooth icons anywhere, no Bluetooth in Device Manager and no Bluetooth switch under the Wireless switch.

I have tried installing a number of Bluetooth drivers but nothing works, although I can manage a greyed out bluetooth switch with some, however still no Bluetooth radio to be found anywhere.

I have turned on Bluetooth Support in local services and tried modifying the Bth.inf file with the ids of the device but still no joy.

People tell me to download the appropriate driver for the Sennheiser BTD500, but as I say there are no drivers on their site and no contact numbers. It is supposed to be supported by Windows 8 as a plug and play and seems to work with other computers with Windows 8.

I get a susupicion that it might be a driver incompatibility issue, like the various other posts of folk upgrading to Windows 8 and losing their bluetooth, as the thing was designed for Windows 7. Only problem is I have no clue what driver to use for it and Sennheiser are as helpful as a broom in the butt.

Is there a way to access the driver on the USB and find out?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated, it's driving me nuts, to the point of complete nutdom.
