Posted March 30, 201410 yr Macworld|iWorld opened its doors today and, as promised, Peter and I were there to help kick it off. For my part I was thrilled to join Jason Snell of IDG, Christina Bonnington of Wired, Ben Bajarin of Techpinions, and Dan Moren of Macworld for the keynote panel, The State of Apple Technology. We talked about Apple being perpetually labeled as doomed, speculated about iWatches and Apple Televisions, and contemplated the future of the Mac, the iPhone, and the iPad. The highlight clip is up top but the full video should be available next week. Meanwhile... Yay, it starts! @jsnell @dmoren @reneritchie pic.twitter.com/CpVh56lIru — Sam Montooth (@Sambassman) March 27, 2014 Following that Don Melton, formerly of WebKit/Safari, and Matt Drance of Apple Outsider, joined me on the Macworld Live stage for Vector Live. We talked all about native vs. web apps, how they're evolving, how apps are increasingly blending the elements of both, how interface is moving with technologies like CarPlay, and then tried to figure out why Facebook wanted Occulus Rift so billion-dollar badly. We should have the audio for that in a day or so. Next up was my first session, all about the Contextual Awakening and how networks and sensors are evolving to make our smartphones truly brilliant. (I wrote about some similar ideas back in December.) iOS 7 iBeacons and more from @reneritchie at #macworld2014 pic.twitter.com/V8vKZmfJ8v — Allison Sheridan (@podfeet) March 27, 2014 Then I finished things off the Jason Snell, Dan Moren, and Roman Loyola back on the Macworld Live stage for their Clockwork podcast. We talked about wearables, projectables, Office for iPad, and more on Occulus. That's already been posted and you can check it out now on TechHive. Peter spent his day conducting interviews from the show floor with the Macworld video team. Those should be available soon as well. So, a fun, frenetic start to the event! If you managed to catch any of the shows let me know how you liked them, and what you'd like to see tomorrow! Continue reading...
