Not able to connect any of the phone to my pc

When I try to connect any of my phones like htc desire x and sony xperia M, I get the prompt box

Then I searched the device manager and had 2 errors

First, Unknown Device Code 28

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

Also, I cannot update it as it says Windows could not find driver software for the device.

Second, HTC MTP device Code code 18

"Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."

And when I reinstall the driver i get the message "encountered an error while installing it"

Pls help me, I am in serious trouble
