Same issue store bought Dvd's won't play everything else will, DRM reset makes no difference. It blacks the screen and stops dvd playback. All other players work fine, my drivers are current and OS is a new install. IT should work but doesn't. Another Issue Microsoft does not seem to be able (or willing) to correct. I find several people with the same issue dating back to 2009 to today but no solutions that work. Everyone ends up downgrading to WMP 11 or using VLC or other software. I like WMP but this is ridiculous, there must be a solution. And why does it tell us we need a new video driver when we clearly have the newest one, and even rolling back to other versions has the same effect. It is clearly a software issue, not hardware. WMP is not properly identifying or allowing something somewhere. Funny cause DRM is supposed to be a copyright / content protections racket but wmp plays all other videos and music fine as long as they are copies and not originals lol! So preventing people from watching purchased store bought material is counter productive.

Has anyone found a way to get WMP 12 to play DVD's for more than a week before blocking them?

Reseting WMP does not work, Microsoft fix-it does not work, Resetting DRM does not work, changing drivers does not work, changing codecs does not work, sfc finds no errors, IT is a Player issue.

There is one possible clue I have noticed that the WMP 12 version and the DRM version do not match, my question there is should they? If the should why don't they and how can we fix that? Updating and reseting the DRM via Microsoft had no effect.
