Explorer process BES error when attempting to browse files and folders; and Internet Explorer...

Hi everyone, auggy,

I am really hoping you can help me with a problem I am having on a single workstation at my office. This is a Windows 7 32-bit build running MS Office 2010 Standard. It differs from other builds in our office because it is used by the head of our Accounts team, and so it has a number of bespoke pieces of software that only she needs access to (payroll software, etc.).

All the computers core functionalities seem fine, save the following two, and I would really like some help getting to the bottom of it.

1) Explorer process BES error when attempting to browse files and folders.

I can call up Windows Explorer absolutely fine, and be browsing away on her machine, and then suddenly the explorer process will die, with the following error :-

I can start windows explorer again, and it will happen again - it is a repeatable event.

2) Internet Explorer AppHangB1 when trying to attach files for upload

I believe these two errors may actually be related, as IE (and Chrome as well for that matter, that being why I think the two problems are linked) works fine, until I come to any type of site where I need to upload a file. This came to light as our Accounts head needs to upload a flat file into an online piece of banking software. What will happen (and, again, this can be repeated as needed) is :-

a) You will click on what will typically be a "browse" button

b) A traditional dialogue box will open, but instead of allowing you to navigate to the location and select the folder you want, it immediately greys out as if the explorer process is falling over.

c) After a little while, the following errror is returned :-

Description:

A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

At auggy's recommendation I have implemented a registry key insertion that outputs explorer.exe crashes to a dump file, and I am in the process of uploading two reports to SkyDrive - I shall post the URL into this thread as soon as I have completed it.

Can anybody please help me ?

Thank you sooooooooooooo much !!

David.
