Posted March 24, 201410 yr I just bought a brand new laptop from Dell, running Windows 8. When downloading various programs to set it up, I noticed that the downloads were a lot slower than I was expecting. I went to a speedtest website, to find out that my download speeds were dismal! .25mbps-.75mbps download!!! After looking for hours online, I decided to plug my laptop directly to the router and got ~35mbps!!! I tried my old (2006 Dell) laptop, and it had the normal download speeds so I know it isn't a distance issue or something wrong with my ISP. My preferred browser is Chrome, but I've also tried in IE. I've tried it in safe mode, and still had the slow download speeds. I've tried the following to fix this: I've run the troubleshooting program through Windows, and nothing was found. I've tried to update the wireless card driver through Windows, and was told it was up to date. I've tried to update the wireless card drive through Dell, and it made no difference. I've tried to install a driver from Windows 7, and it didn't work. I'm at a loss! Please, can't someone help?!?! Continue reading...
