Deleting Programs that Won't Let You do it from the XP Programs Add/Remove Screen

I'm running Windows XP. A week or so ago while logging in to my account, the program Sonic Record Now kept wanting to connect to update. However, when the Sonic Update Manger was trying to "gather the data" it gave an error that the network is not working (I'm not on a network). Anyway, I got feed up with this and tried to delete the program under the XP Programs Add/Remove screen. The program is there, but when you click on it, it will not bring up the screen so you can delete it. So I went under Programs on the C:\ drive and deleted the entire program folder and did a restart. No luck. The Sonic program still tries to use the its Update Manager. I also tried to reload the program using the disk that came with the computer when I bought it. I get a message basically stating that I need to remove the current program first. However, the Sonic program folder was already deleted.

What do I do next and how do you delete a program from the Add/Remove program screen, that after clicking on the program, it will not bring up the option to delete it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.
