Posted March 18, 201410 yr New details have emerged about Apple's rumored Healthbook application, reportedly coming in iOS 8. The application is supposed to track several points of health and fitness data and utilizes a card-based interface similar to Passbook, with a card for each health category. Healthbook is said to be able to track your activity, weight, and nutrition, as well as monitor your blood, watching blood sugar levels, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure. One thing that isn't clear just yet is how Healthbook would receive all of this data, though there are indications that data could come through the supposed iWatch, according to Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac: Hires, patents, and other evidence have indicated that Apple has long been working on a wearable computer with fitness and health-tracking functionality. Specifically, Apple has hired several engineers with specific experience in designing, building, and shipping medical sensors. The majority of the medical hardware-related hires focus on tracking blood sugar levels and scanning veins. Notable hires include executives and scientists from Senseonics, C8 MediSensors, Sano Intelligence, and Vital Connect.
