Posted March 15, 201410 yr i did all the steps on the page: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/i-cant-install-microsoft-security-essentials including the last thing to try, the selective startup, but NOTHING works, it still fails the installation of the latest download, which is for windows 7, and i tried ALL the steps on the above microsoft solution-steps page so when all those FIRST 5 STEPS ON THAT PAGE FAIL, STEP 6 TELLS YOU TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT, WHICH IS BACK TO WHERE I STARTED, SO IT LEADS ME IN A CIRCLE. SO I POST THIS "QUESTION" HERE: ALL THIS STARTED WHEN I UPDATED MY SOFTWARE WITH WINDOWS UPDATE LAST YEAR. IT RIED ALL THE STEPS SUGGESTED BACK THEN, BUT IT DID NOT WORK THEN, JUST AS NOW. SO MICROSOFT CAUSED THIS WITH SOMETHING YOU UPDATED, THAT BROKE SECURITY ESSENTIALS. I TRIED UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING IT.
