Hello,

I am currently working on a friend's laptop, and I found that there was a 254GB partition with the label DATA. The HDD is 500 GB, so this partition is using just over half. The Windows partition is 186GB in size, which only has 7GB free. The partition reports that there is only 700MB of data on it.

I don't think this is a recovery partition because I've never seen a recovery partition that uses that much of the disk, and Disk Management reports that it's not bootable. Inside this drive are numerous DLL files and a few others that seem to point to Visual C++ Redistributable.

I recently removed 14 viruses from the system using Defender Offline, since Kaspersky on the system was not functioning properly. They came from adware and were all trojans.

Is this a from a virus, or why else would this have happened? More importantly, should I reallocate it?

Thanks in advance,

Luke
