Posted March 8, 201410 yr Can anyone in the Community help with a complicated print spooler problem in Windows 7 that doesn't seem to be answered in the current responses? I have a Toshiba Equium laptop with a Lexmark S305 all-in-one printer installed. The computer is at least 5 years old, the printer around 3 years old. Until recently I have had no problems with printing. This is the problem now: When I first boot up both computer and printer in the morning, if I want to print out a document it will download to the printer and print without a problem. If I then want to print a second document, it downloads to the printer, which then appears to be preparing to print (it makes all the right noises), but then does nothing and goes back into stand-by. On checking the print queue, I can see the document sitting there, waiting to print. The only way I can get it to print is by going into 'Services' and stopping and re-starting the Print Spooler after which the second document will print off. However, if I then want to print a third document, once again it appears to download to the print queue (I can see it in the queue) but this time the printer does not make any indication that it is going to print. On this third occasion, stopping & starting the print spooler does nothing, and the only way I can get the print is by re-starting the computer whereupon the printer will produce the print on either shutdown or restart, and even then this process does not always work. Sometimes, I have to re-boot the computer and start the print process all over again as if it's the first time I have tried to print the document. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, and have checked for driver updates, but this does not solve the problem, and I now believe that the issue lies with the print spooler software in the computer, rather than with the printer. I should add that I get no error messages of any kind from either the computer or the printer, and both appear to working normally, yet clearly are not. I have tried following some of the help replies, but they don't work in this case. You will appreciate that this is becoming an very frustrating exercise. Any ideas out there? Continue reading...
