Posted March 7, 201410 yr This is my first time posting a question here. If I have posted this in the wrong category please bear with me. We have an Acer laptop that runs Windows Vista 32-bit and we would like to use Malwarebytes but Windows keeps blocking it at startup. I know we can allow the program to come through but we have to do it every time we start the computer. There's no permanent option to allow the program at startup so I tried to disable Windows Defender. I went to msconfig to find Defender and turned it off but that didn't make any difference. I have even unchecked "startup" and "services" there but the problem persisted: somehow Windows found its way back to block at startup. I have read somewhere that Windows Defender is part of Vista and that cannot be uninstalled. It this true? If so, how I can ever disable it to a point where I can run Malwarebytes at startup? Any help will be much appreciated. We are low-tech people so please go slow and easy on us. PS We have two other computers that run Windows 7 without the same issue. Continue reading...
