windows xp shows error message on blue screen and terminates installation

i am having a problem. i keep trying to install windows xp pro on my desktop pc and every time i get this:

a problem has been detected and windows has to shut dowm to prevent damage to your computer.....

and so on and so forth

and then this:

what does this mean? what shall i do to remedy the problem? is it fixable???
