Posted March 5, 201410 yr I was running parallels with xp. Yesterday, my xp crashed. Parallels support was unable to repair xp. They advised me to purchase windows 7 iso. Microsoft does not sell this product any longer, but was advised that retailers who carry microsoft products would. I am not sure I understand the difference between what is an exe. and iso. Parallels support also suggested windows 8.1. It appears an upgrade would not be the answer. Would installing the full version of windows 8.1 work with parallels? Is this iso based? Would I lose programs, and or data that is currently xp based. Parallels advised they could remap to a new VM. This is so confusing, I appreciate any help on the best way to fix this.
