So I know you guys are gonna love this! I have a very particular virus that I believe I picked up through me and my friends' Hamachi network (one of them must have blocked it and bounced back the LAN tunnel to me) Some issues the virus has given me in pristine bullet-point format for an easier time raging: -It has deleted my USB 3.0 hubs. I have tested this since I have a plug'n'play CoolerMaster Xornet mouse and when it plugs into the 2.0 hubs, it works, but any 3.0 hub will not work. -it messes with my damn drivers to the point where, said mouse and touchpad, could not work, even going as far as disabling intel hd graphics and turning off my display -gives startup errors up the **** to the point where it will NOT shutdown until I get rid of and re-install the program (it's done it to Skype, Hamachi, and even Minecraft too) or driver (soundcard, video driver [at first I thought it was the infamous conflict between nVidia and Intel], and then it finally attack my USB 3.0 hub which I cannot fix) -IT ALWAYS CHANGES MY DAMN FILE PERMISSIONS. This sucks since I have to manually go into each folder and change the permissions back. I can successfully do so, however it keeps going back, and not just on reboot, but it does it while the PC is running. -Will not let me download/install ANY anti-virus software. I tried downloading AVG anti-virus and it froze on 41.8/mb our of 53 or so mb. I thought it was a wifi problem, but I noticed Steam was updating just fine. Atop of this, I had Microsoft Security Essentials in the first place, but it deleted it's file contents. The program still shows up on the uninstall program list, and when I try to re-install it, it says I already have it, but when I try to uninstall it so I can do a fresh install, it says it's already gone. I come to you gentlemen as a man who has made a huge mistake downloading an extended-open-LAN netowkr program and expecting to be safe, and I implore, no, beg you, to help me identify the virus, if it has a name or how I can find out, and whether I can and how I can delete it. My last resort is formatting the whole drive and re-installing...but I do have a couple of papers do and a presentation due for college, so I am delaying it for Spring Break, when I have a sufficient amount of time. I also have another option which I'd like your opinions on, which is to basically install a sufficient anti-virus program (any suggestions?) and plugging the HDD to my desktop (did I mention the infected computer is a laptop?) and then scanning for the virus and deleting it to make sure windows 7 isn't running, therefore keeping the virus "dormant". Again, I am desperate, any idea of what to do from here? My specs (if it matters) Win7 64bit intel 4770k 1tb HDD (partitioned in half for purpose of storage/games)
