Removing XP

Windows XP (32 bit) on SATA 1 - Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) on SATA 2 : (currently running both)

When installing Windows 7 disconnected SATA 1 : On any restart system boots into XP . To boot Windows 7 <restart>, <tap F8> which brings up Load boot menu screen. Select Boot First Device : SATA 1 , SATA 2 , CD Master or CDRW Slave. To the best of my understanding this is not dual booting. Both OS's do recognize the other in (My Computer).

I would like to make Windows 7 the primary OS and when safe remove XP.

Any ordered suggestions and advice would be appreciated.
