Posted February 27, 201410 yr I am running an Asus laptop under Windows 7. I have two issues. I cannot dowload any files using IE9 and I am unable to install Service Pack1. I have tried to download IE10 using the Chrome browser but it wont install as the installer says it needs service pack 1 installed. I have created a new user and this has fixed the problem with downloading files with IE. I have tried installing SP1 from a downloaded file on a DVD but when I run the setup progrma I get an hourglass on the screen and nothing further hapens. I have disabled the Windows Firewall and unloaded the Avast virus checker and tried to install SP1 again but I get the same error. I have run a malware scan and no errors were found. Similiary with a full virus scan which has found no errors. I have installed an update for the graphics card in the laptop. I have downloaded and run the Systems Update Readiness Tool and the Windows Update Diagnostic tool. This last program has indicated a number of errors These are:- Service registration is missing or corrupt Not fixed Windows update error error 0x80070057 Not fixed Problems with installing recent updates Not fixed Check for missing or corrupt files Not fixed Some secuirty settings are missing or have been chamged Fixed Has anyone any ideas how to fix this issue?
