PC . HP Pavillion bought 2001. Running XP home. About 5 years later sent into PC shop because running very slow. Although I had not requested it,the guy reformatted the HDD and installed Windows Professional. A while later microsoft started windows genuine checks. The PC showed the OS not genuine but by clicking the "resolve later" box life continued as normal. The repair shop had now disappeared so no recourse there. Next the updates were refused so I ordered a genuine kit direct from microsoft at a cost of £90.

Never got around to installing it as I bought a new PC with Win 7 installed. Today for various reasons I decided to revive my old HP Pavillion and install the Microsoft genuine advantage kit. A windows professional OS disc. Opened the cellophane and the casing, popped the disc in the drive clicked install windows, and the box for inputting the coa appeared. The coa sticker is still on the side of the tower. Wrote the characters down, checked and re-checked. entered on the screen as requested but rejected. Checked the coa sticker several times and made sure the input was correct but no joy.

As I said bought directly from Microsoft at a cost of £90 so I cant see any reason why there should be a problem. Can anyone help please. Thanks
