When I start up Toshiba Satellite L855-S5309 I get Media Failed No Bootable drive. I went into Bios and see that HDD/SSD says none. I took the hard drive out and installed it in my hard drive enclosure and could not find the drive on my other computer . I installed another hard drive in enclosure and it came up immediately . I reinstalled failed hard drive again and still nothing. I did a run cmd and Typed "chkdsk x: /f /r" and press "Enter," substituting "x" with the letter of the USB drive and got a cant access files .

So I guess the hard drive is junk.

I believe all the data is gone also without spending a big chunk of money to retrieve it.

I have 3 other hard drives laying around so I installed in the Toshiba and got the same prompt . No Bootable device. I took that hard drive and installed it in another Toshiba laptop I have and it booted up no problem.

I also tried the other hard drives that I have laying around and non of them work either.

Any suggestions ??? I have never had a problem like this before. I replace hard drives all the time , Install new Operating systems, I have even jumped a bios before to access it.

I am completely stumped on this ???

I do own a copy of Windows 8 on CD but already have it on another laptop. One of the hard drives I have has Windows 7 and another has Vista. They are both functioning Hard Drives.

This laptop did not come with a recovery disc and unfortunately the warranty has expired from best buy and Toshiba so I cant get a recovery data from them.

Thanks Steve
