Posted February 16, 201410 yr I noticed my firewall needed updating and i wasnt using the recommended settings when I clicked on the "use recommended settings" button it comes up with "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code:0x80070433 I googled how to get rid of it and people were saying go to services and click Windows Firewall then change it from disabled to automatic but it wasnt in my services so i found this other website saying to download Fix It and that would get rid of the problem(the download name was: MicrosoftFixit.WindowsFirewall.RNP.159315890571186421.7.1.Run.exe I downloaded it from this site: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_firewall_diagnostic/ now im worrying that was not a Microsoft download becausei ran it and it said there was a problem i needed to uninstall Norton and rerun it I did and it still said the same thing but now I havent got Norton either so i tried to do a systems recovery but when i select any of them they shut down then it powers back on and says it hasnt worked because of error code 0x80070005 I've used microsoft security essentials for a while and it hasnt picked up either problem on quick or full scan I think ive had them a while I also tried to use this http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx but it was saying it didnt work however now its allowing me to run it i just started a full scan The reason why I tried to do a system restore is so I could get back Norton Internet and Norton Online Backup I also dont know whether to leave the Restore System window open or to click on the "restore operation" type "undo" Continue reading...
