Apple has released its annual supplier responsibility report, highlighting the progress it has made towards ensuring that their suppliers treat their workers fairly. The report focuses on a number of key areas, including education, health and safety, working hours, and environmental impact. Suppliers improved in all areas in 2013, and there were reduced instances of underage labor, with eleven cases found in eight supplier facility, down significantly from 2012. In education, a record 1.5 million workers in Apple's suppliers were educated on their rights in 2013, according to the report:

It’s crucial that workers also understand their rights so they can speak up if they’re unsure about anything they see or if they believe their rights are being violated. We require training for new and existing employees about Apple’s Code of Conduct, local laws, and occupational health and safety. Since 2007, more than 3.8 million workers and managers in our supply chain have received this training, including 1.5 million in 2013.

Is Apple doing enough to ensure that workers making their products are treated well, or should they be doing more? Sound off in the comments below.
