Windows 8 and I had been using Mcafee for my virus protection. Once the subscription ended, I uninstalled the program from my computer and I have tried a number of things to get the

Windows Defender to work as my anti-virus/anti-spyware thing and everything I try to open has this same error message. I am able to get updates, and it has the troubleshooting options, which I do as an administrator,

and it says that it fixed two different things, and to try what I was trying to do again. I keep trying and it still gives me the error message. Is there anything I can do to get Windows Defender to work on my computer?
