I have had my laptop for two weeks and it has windows 8.

 

I try to turn on Windows defender and it says it says that my Real-time Protection is "off"

 

Windows Defender couldn't turn on real-time protection."

 

"This operation returned because the timeout period expired."

 

How do I get protection on my computer and why is Windows 8 the worst this in history?
