I am running out of memory and cannot expand

I followed some of these suggestions and found the following information under Task Manager:

 

Memory 1013 MB

Cached 553

Free 9

 

I keep removing programs but I find nothing else for removal. I noticed under the Performance &amp Tools that I have twice a reference to Explorer as one of the major space takers:

 

iexplorer##1 with 523,436 KB

 

and further down another one:

 

explorer 277,956 KB

 

I also have Google desktop as part of the top 10 space takers.

 

My laptop already has the máximum memory of 1 GB
