This is more of a statement than a question, but it might help those of us who will continue to use

XP as a Guest O/S after next mid-April. And maybe someone will have some advice.

Recently, I had to reinstall Win 7. Despite its saving most

Program files, I had to reinstall VMWare from my

external HD list [i put all my created and downloaded files there] of

programs and the XP HE from its disk. Something I never had thought of up till now, with loads of

Updates getting jammed in the pipeline and taking days to install, was that I should have backed up

XP, using the ntbackup that can be installed from the XP CD. This is now crucial, as there won't be any

Support for XP soon enough. I only need

XP for running old, Win 7-incompatible programs that I'm used to and can't afford to update.
