FPCH Admin AWS Posted April 20, 2013 FPCH Admin Posted April 20, 2013 Hi. My desktop pc (2.4GHz / Vista SP2 - 32-bit OS / 500 GB HD / 3 GB RAM) normally takes 4 - 5 mins to boot up with internet connection. In the last week or so it has been taking 25 - 30 mins to boot up when connected to the internet, but still only 4 - 5 mins if internet not connected. I have performed a clean boot and found that if all start-up items are disabled then the problem goes away, but if any 1 or more are enabled then the problem persists. I know that the obvious answer is not to connect to the internet until the pc is fully booted up, but would be interested to hear any solutions anyone might have. The red light on the front of the pc normally flashes rapidly on boot up but now is slow and intermittent. Once fully booted up the pc runs at normal speed. I have performed a full scan in MS Security Essentials but nothing found. I have also un-installed any un-needed programs and downloaded an up to date network adapter driver. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks. View this thread Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
