Windows 7 suddenly illegal

I have Windows 7 Ultimate (upgraded from Vista a few years ago). I'm running a Raid 3 system and the disc failed, was replaced and everything appeared to run as usual.

 

Recently, Windows popups said my Windows are not legal and (obviously) Windows update doesn't work. I can't see the "activate" option in the control panel in order to reenter the KEY and the Windows Update solutions do not help.
