FPCH Admin AWS Posted April 10, 2013 FPCH Admin Posted April 10, 2013 Microsoft Security Essentials found DOS/ALUREON.J on my Windows XP Home Edition computer. It partially removed it, but left remnants, and I am unable to remove them the computer is still logey and temperamental. I found a page (and have now lost it) explaining an intricate way to start removing the trojan remnants on windows 7, and it said to click on a line for Windows XP instructions, but the link was not functioning. I have since been unable to find the page again. Until yesterday, I had Avast (free) antivirus, and yesterday I switched to AVG (free) because fore weeks the computer got increasingly slower, causing me to reboot a couple of times a day. MSE found the trojan today. I have not changed any settings since then. I use both IE8 and Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m. Please...I am desperate....what are the steps I should take? (Warning: I am 75 and no computer genius. ) View this thread Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
