i have an external hard drive that I formatted using vista. I cannot read that same hard drive with

I recently formatted a WD external hard drive through my vista laptop. I downloaded several megs of files onto this hard drive. My Vista laptop crashed and I need a new hard drive. I am trying to access these files through my XP laptop. I see the DRIVE

- &quotD&quot. However, when I try to access the drive it comes up with &quotthe disk in drive d is not formatted&quot Do you want to format it now?
