Hi all,

I have had an extensive Google search for an answer but I can't seem to find the right documentation for help. Also, as per the rules I have searched the forum itself for an answer, but no luck.

Box details:

At work we have a Dell PowerEdge T110 (box details here) running Win Server 2008 with Hyper-V. Hard drive wise, it is sporting a mirrored RAID between 2 drives.

The issue:

My boss wanted to install a 1TB SATA drive to run separate from the RAID as extra storage for non mission critical data. I have since purchased and installed this hard drive into the T110. On boot, the POST shows that the HDD is plugged into the SATA0 port. However once in the UI of win Server 2008 it cannot be recognized.

I looked for it in the drive manager thinking I would just need to assign a drive letter for it to appear in 'My Computer', however it cannot be found there either.

I formatted this drive in a desktop PC because I wasn't physically able to access the server at the time, and figured it would speed up install time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking time to read this!

So, now the drive is formatted... and you can use it on a DESKTOP pc, but still nothing on your server... right?

mhhh lovely dell...

go into the bios and DISABLE everything ralated to AHCI.

It should be on CHIPSET CONFIG or ADVANCED (actually I can't remember).

And set to SATA/PATA or something similar. Then, it should work...
