Windows Update Failed

Code 800401E4

 

Windows 7, 64-bit, Avast Anti Virus, have Service Pack 1 (I can give more information if requested)

 

-All of the updates won't install (I can list all the 'kb's if necessary, but none of them will execute)

 

-This solution does not work: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 , specifically Step 3

 

-"Mr. Fix It" does not work - it doesn't execute

 

-I've also noticed problems, maybe unrelated, like being unable to open picture files in PhotoViewer (the .dll is not a Win32 Application)... I also can't change the default viewer - It won't let me hit 'ok' to confirm the change! This could be unrelated,

but I thought worth mentioning

 

 

Any suggestions on how to fix this error?
