Error Codes 80073712 and 9C57

Hello,

 

I have been getting a message that Windows is installing update 1 of 1 each time I shut down my computer. I decided to try and manually install updates to my Windows 7 (64-bit) PC and have been repeatedly getting a failure message. The error codes I get

are 80073712 and 9C57. The failed installs are Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (error 9C57) and Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2809289) (error 80073712). I have tried the

Windows update troubleshooter as well as the Microsoft install troubleshooter. I tried to download a hotfix (KB947821) that was supposed to help with these issues, but it will not install either.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my parents computer and they have no idea what to do. I am fairly computer savy, so I am willing ti try most anything to get this issue solved.
