unable to install windows updates. updates download, install takes place and gets to 15% and stalls

Every time I try and install Windows Updates, the updates download and then install. When the system then goes through the process of restarting it reaches 15% and then shuts down and restarts. When it reaches 15% again it sticks at that point and then

says the istall has failed and the reverts the system to what it was prior to the update.I have not been able to update my system for many months and frankly am fed up with this problem.I ahve tried the various fixes such as Mr Fix and all to no avail. I am am no computer nurd so any fix needs to be done by someone else or simple fix for a non computer savvy person such as I can sort this out
