Using Windows 7 i-Pod is not recognised,, tried compatability mode but no luck.

Using Windows 7 i-Pod is not recognised,, tried compatability mode but no luck.

Apple does not appear to recognise Win 7? I-pod does not show on computer, i-Tunes downloaded OK

please help
