Posted March 27, 201311 yr FPCH Admin I have an HP Pavilion Elite that came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed. I recently purchased a 120 GB SSD and wanted to install Windows 7 and programs on the SSD and use the old 1 TB HDD for storage. Rather than clone my old HDD I decided to try a clean install of Windows 7 on the SSD. When I tried to do this using the recovery DVDs I had made, I received an error stating that I could not do a recover install of Windows 7 because the disk was smaller than the disk Windows was originally installed on. To get around this problem I downloaded an official Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ISO and burned it to a DVD. I then used Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to find my original Windows 7 key and proceeded to do a clean install of Windows 7 on my SSD. When it came time to enter my product key, my key was not accepted. I now have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed on my SSD but I cannot activate it and I am running out of time. Should I be able to activate Windows 7 with the key from my original HP install or am I screwed here? Is there any way that I can use the recovery DVD's from my original install of Windows 7 to install it on my SSD and avoid this problem? Thanks for any advice.
