i'm trying to update Windows Defender but it's stuck on 'search' and hasn't found it. I

i'm trying to update Windows Defender but it's stuck on 'search' and hasn't found it. I have a Samsung and Windows 8 which has Defender installed I got an alert that I need to update Defender but when I click on Update it just 'searches' forever. I have

checked the internet connection and that's ok
