Hi there! I recently installed Norton 360 and I am having trouble starting up the Base Filtering Engine service in order to fix a Norton error. Everytime I try to start the BFE service, it displays "Error 5: Access is denied". I am logged in as Administrator

but still no luck. Can you help me fix this problem?

I also want to give you a bit more background info, it might help determine the problem.

When I got the computer, it had the McAfee protection program preinstalled. It was activated but the time expired. I recently got a virus, (a variation of the FBI Moneypak virus), but I did a system restore, uninstalled McAfee, and installed the Norton 360.

It removed the virus and everything is ok now. But, here is where it gets complicated. After installing Norton and removing the virus, Norton gives me the Error: 5013,3 alert, I went to the Norton support site and it gave me some instructions to correct the

error. On the last instructions, I have to start the BFE service. I noticed that this was missing, and that McAfee still had its firewall and other componets running. It tried using the Microsoft Fit it Tool, but McAfee was preventing it from running. I found

the McAfee removal tool and it removed all McAfee components. I ran the Firewall Fix it Tool once again and it installed the BFE service. But now I am getting the "Error 5: Access is Denied" everytime I want to start up the BFE service. Now I have gotten this

alert before when I tried to do some updates, but I never really paid attention to it. I wanted to give you some background info to see if maybe anything else may have caused the problem.

Please help and thanks for any input!!
