Hello, I have Windows XP Professional on my home computer and about a week ago I noticed a new icon on the start up screen that said "New Briefcase (2)". I'm not that computer literate where I can go and start trying to delete this or that and i would like

to know what would happen if I did choose to delete it? The other thing that changed is the color of the background, it used to be the old blue start up screen and now it comes up white and a box appears that asks if I want to restore my Active desktop. When

I pushed yes thinking it would take me back to the old blue screen nothing happens, so I end up going to the control panel and opening Desktop and when my old screen pops up, i push okay and it's back to normal until the next time I start it up. What would

cause that new icon to just pop up like it did and why the white screen with that question? I haven't done anything that would cause such changes. Any help would be appreciated and thank you for your time and help.
