In July of 2010, my motherboard got fried and I had to replace it. Since I had to get so much into the machine, I decided to overhaul it completely including installing Windows 7 Ultimate from XP. I purchased most of my parts and software from Newegg.

I did not purchase from Ebay or other unreliable sources. I believe I bought Win 7 from Costco but haven't been able to find my receipt.

I've had no trouble with the software until a couple of weeks ago when I had a pop up from Adobe asking me to update one of their software (perhaps Adobe Air?). I just clicked ok. Since, it's come to my attention that Adobe has been packaging McAfee

antivirus software with it's upgrades. It was very soon after that I got several pop ups at the same time. Some were telling me that my Windows software was not genuine and that the Windows virus protection would end in 30 days or was it 60 days?

I assumed I'd been hit by a virus. I noticed that a McAfee window was open in the background saying that it had completed it's scan of my system. I have never put McAfee on my machine and had no idea how it could be there lending more credence to a

virus attack.

But, no. After searching the web, I see that the virus is from Microsoft because it apparently believes I bought a bootleg copy of Win 7 and is going to punish me. That's after more than 2 1/2 years of owning the software and using their own virus protection

software.

So, yes, I'm steamed. Is it possible my software is not genuine? Anything's possible. But I would never have knowingly purchased a bootleg copy and I should not be "punished" for something someone else did.

Anyway, can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do other than paying again for my software? I did a diagnostic scan which is below.

Thanks for any help
