I have asked for help with this problem several times now, but have been unable to fix it thus far. My hard drive failed and once a new one was installed my Windows Updates no longer worked, the reason for this being

'Default Windows Update data locations have changed'.

I cannot uninstall service pack 2 either because that too has disappeared from my add/remove programs, although still showing that I have it. Is there any way I can recover the appropriate files from the 'windows old' file and then paste them where they

should be? Alternatively, is there some way to manually delete/remove service pack 2 so that I can do a fresh re-install?

I am desperate to resolve this problem and would appreciate any help or guidance.

Thanks and regards,

Sharon
