Using Windows 7 x64. For several months now I have been hiding windows updates related to IE 9 cumulative security updates. Windows Update would hang during the installation the progress bar would get stuck at around 50% and I'd eventually have to reboot

the machine. The machine would boot and try to continue the update, which would also hang. I'd have to power off the machine and when it restarted, it would roll back the failed update. Sometimes in the course of doing this my machine would end up with Aero

turned off and I'd have to get that re-enabled, or restore from a restore point. All other Windows updates work fine. I tried all sorts of things to get past this, from running FixIt for Windows Update to uninstalling IE 9 (so that I could try to install it

cleanly no luck, this too hung) without success. So I finally hid the update.Since, then however, more IE 9 security updates have appeared and from time to time I try to install them with the same results: hang, reboot, hide the update. Today I tried installing the IE 10 preview, figuring it would supersede IE 9 and I'd be rid of the

issue. No soap IE 10 wouldn't install.I'm at the point where this has gone beyond annoying and I'm starting to worry about not having these security updates. I always keep my machine updated religiously via Windows Update and have never seen such an issue before.Any help would be appreciated!
