If running aftermarket anti virus/malware software, do you want to have Win Defender off? I'm think

I'm running Fix-it Utilities Professional 12. The first time I installed it, Win Defender remained on and active. I'm having trouble recently with the CPU running @ Max, 100% continuously. In my search to find what is taxing the CPU so hard, it was suggested

I remove and reinstall the Fix-it program. which I did using the downloaded removal tool. After the installation, Win defender appears in the task bar with a warning that it is turned off. I have tried to turn it on. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes I get

an error that it timed out, and to try again later. Every time I reboot, it turns off again. Should I just leave it off? Now I have to figure out how to disable the warning I guess.

Thanks for any input.
