User profiles being changed on the fly on bootup

I'm using Vista, but, a lot of the employees in my department are still using

XP. Sometimes a user will log in and they'll notice that they've lost their

desktop icons, and, they've lost all their IE favorites. If I look into their

Documents and Settings folder, I'll see a new profile created. Originally

their profile was named with their username plus a dot, then the name of the

domain. For example: "pb4072.intdom." That's my profile folder name. Now,

sometimes, a user logs in and suddenly, they have a new profile. So, in the

example I gave above, instead of "pb4072.intdom," it's just "pb4072" as the

name of the profile. This is incredible, and frustrating. I have to go in

there and manually copy all their stuff from one profile to the other.

Otherwise, they'll kill me. ( -: This is the kind of thing that makes me want

to run out and buy a Mac.

Thanks.
