Posted February 15, 201311 yr FPCH Admin Last night (02/14/2013) I installed a set of 11 updates (one optional, the rest important), and upon restarting my machine, after the boot-logo, my computer screen just began flashing from black to grey (when grey, I could see my cursor, could move it, but couldn't do anything else).....It did that for almost an hour before I finally managed to load System Restore by inserting my bought Windows 8 Pro x64 disc. Not only did this happen to my desktop pc (an HP Pavillion p6620f), but it also happened exactly the same on my wife's laptop when I updated it with the same updates later last night. Her laptop in an HP Pavillion g7-1310us Notebook pc. Needless to say, I again had to do a System Restore on her lappy too. ********************************************************* The updates that I had downloaded for both computers on 02/14/2013 are as follows: Important: 1) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2792100) 2) Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2797052) 3) Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 for x64-based Systems (KB2789650) 4) Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 for x64-based Systems (KB2789649) 5) Security Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2778344) 6)Security Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2790655) 7) Security Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2799494) 8) Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2805940) 9) Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2795944) 10) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 x64-based Systems - February 2013 (KB890830) optional: 11) Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2793210) ********************************************************* I would really like someone to be able to help me with this. I bought Windows 8 Pro for my computer, my wife's laptop, and also 3 other copies for my father-in-law's machines....and now I've had to disable Windows Updates for all of them because of this! All of our computers are HP, maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know. Or perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the machines didn't originally come with Win8 pre-installed (like I said above, I bought the discs at retail---5 of them). I really enjoy using Windows 8, and don't want to have to downgrade to Win7 after all my hard work and spent $$$. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ASAP!!!! View this thread Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
