My setup: My name is Floyd

CS5 Extended, W8, 64bit, 8 GB memory, Dell XPS 8500 computer with Intel 3770 processor. Dell 2410 24 inch monitor. I purchased this desktop &amp monitor specifically for the purpose of running Adobe CS5 Extended and other photography related programs. I installed

the same program that I previously installed on a W7 desktop about a year ago. Neither of these problems I describe below existed on W7 nor CS4 nor CS3. Also, these problems have not yet occurred outside Photoshop (which I opened through Adobe Bridge). The

only other programs I installed on this computer are Datacolor's monitor/printer calibration sw and Imatch image management sw.

Photoshop (PS):

1. BLACK SCREEN: This problem happened about 10 times in the only half an hour I have used the program for editing. Sometimes the background behind the layer on which I am working becomes black, bordering my window. Sometimes the entire screen turns black

except for the presence of the mouse pointer. Sometimes moving the mouse returns the PS windows, sometimes it does not. Sometimes I do nothing and they return in less than 60 seconds but once it lasted several minutes and I shutdown the program through Windows

Task manager. Am hesitant to starting clicking the mouse when I cannot see anything.

2. SELECTIONS: Selections are outlined by a "moving" dashed line. This is what I have experienced in previous versions of PS. However in W8 the border disappears every 4 seconds, remains gone about a second, and then returns. Annoying. Distressing.

When I got the computer I installed all available updates from MS. Then I installed CS5 Extended Suite. I ran updates again, but it said I was up to date. When I found these two problems, I ran updates from within both Bridge and PS. In both cases it

went to MS, not Adobe, and again said I was up to date. During the decision process for purchasing this setup, I found numerous references at MS and Adobe to CS5's compatibility with W8. Sometimes phrased "No known problems."

I would appreciate your help. Thanks, Floyd
