Posted August 24, 200717 yr I was getting the message: The Windows Installer Service Could not be Accessed. This can occur if you are in safe mode of if the windows installer is not properly installed. I went to the following KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346 I found 2 msiexec.exe file one in windows system32 and one in SP2. I followed step 2 and went to regedit and changed the location to be the SP2 location (the previous location looked like (((Value/// My Doc's))) Then I brought up safe mode hitting F8 and proceeded with step 3. but when I tried to run misexec /regserver. It said it could not be found. I tried restarting the computer again but when I hit F8 It would not go back in to safe mode. it aksed me if I wanted to boot up from DVD or floppy. either brought me back to my regular boot up. My windows installer still does not work and I am worried that I can't get into safe mode. Should I do some sore of revert drive?
